Peace River, Manning, and Dixonville

In late March, the C.O.W. Bus pulled up outside of the Community Resource Centre in the town of Manning. The Kindergarten classes of both Rosary Elementary School and Manning Elementary School, as well as many of the families with younger children, welcomed the bus into the community. The facilitators shared family literacy ideas and activities with parents and we were happy to spend the day in such a nice community.

A Legacy Library was presented to the Manning Community Resource Centre. Half of the books will become part of the Manning Municipal Library, and the other half will be used with the Resource Centre’s Family Literacy programs.

The next day the C.O.W. Bus stopped in Peace River to share fun ideas of how to help young children develop their language and literacy skills. The two facilitators were happy to visit with families, and children and staff from day cares, and elementary schools. The Legacy Library was presented to the Peace River FCSS.

On the final day of our visit to this area, the bus stopped outside of Dixonville School for the morning. Although it was only a short visit, we were very pleased to welcome so many of the community’s families onto the bus. The Kindergarten and Grade 1, 2 and 3 classes also explored the many fun literacy activities that we share all around Alberta with our COW bus.

The Legacy Library was presented to the principal of the school, who will make the books available to the families in the community.
