The visit to Rocky Mountain House coincided with the grand reopening of the Rocky Community Literacy Council offices in their new space. This was a festive affair attended by many local politicians, business owners and the media. The Legacy Library was presented over lunch at the reopening ceremony. The Mayor accepted the books on behalf of the Learning Council.
Over the course of several days, the bus visited the Rocky Native Friendship Centre, the Rocky Public Library, the McMan Centre (home of the new Parent Link Centre) and a parent and tot group held at the Church of the Nazarene in the village of Caroline.
The trip was very successful. It was well planned by an enthusiastic literacy coordinator who had very specific goals for the bus and targeted very specific groups.
It was exciting to meet so many young families in these two communities. Thanks for the invitation.
