The C.O.W. Bus spent a week in Hanna and area. The Hanna Family Literacy organized the visit and two of their literacy staff accompanied the bus for the week. The visit included stops in Hanna, Delia, Youngstown, Morrin and the Handhill Hutterite Colony.
Many of the families we saw had been to the bus during our previous visits and our staff were greeted warmly. This is our third visit to this area and community support is amazing.
In Delia and Morrin, the bus parked at the public library and the Legacy Library was presented to local board members. In Hanna the Legacy Library was presented at Kiddies Korner Playschool and will be shared by Hanna Family Literacy and the playschool.
The bus visit to Youngstown was a big hit with local families who came to participate in a morning of family activities. The families with children registered in kindergarten came with many younger siblings and family friends. In the classroom the children made a craft and enjoyed snacks that their moms had brought. It was a very busy morning.
On Saturday, the bus was one of the many special events as Hanna celebrated the 20th anniversary of their indoor rodeo. The bus was parked in front of the public library for a storytelling extravaganza. A wonderful storyteller told stories in the library, and the children enjoyed more stories, songs and activities on the bus.
Many thanks to everyone involved in this visit. You showed your true community spirit.
